At the end of January, I made a post about how you could use Flickr to build massive amounts of insanely powerful links. Well, Flickr later added the nofollow tag to all external links, making them useless for raising your rank in the search engines.
End of story… or is it?
Today I discovered that the nofollow links are only added to comments on public photos. The “Groups” section is still all search engine friendly links. You can find related places to add your comments in the group section, or you can create your own group.
For the sake of an example, I created the Flickr group called Website Marketing Strategies. You can see it here. Notice the dofollow link from Flickr that use to be nofollow.
If you really want to make it interesting, you can start doing google query strings to find groups that rank well for certain terms. Here is a good query to get you started:
site:flickr.com/groups/
If you have something to add, feel free to do so in the comments.

I am definitely going to be checking this out. Thanks for the info Collin.

[...] Flickr however as you probably know these links were nofollow. Turns out this is not quite true. As Collin has discovered group pages still remain [...]
Great idea. Couldn’t these different groups be seen as authority links for your specific niche too?
