MixedMarketArts Will Soon Be Moving

Posted in My Ventures

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or get your blog updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

Thats right, I have decided that this blog will be better off on CollinLaHay.com, so I will be transferring it fairly soon (after the new logo is done).

There are a number of reasons, but the main one is for branding purposes.  When I started Mixed Market Arts, I planned on everyone understanding that, just like the Mixed Martial Arts of fighting, this blog would have a mixture of different internet marketing techniques.

Long story short, people didn’t get it and people to this day say “mixed martial arts dot com” when they are talking to me, so I decided my branding idea actually backfired and it is time to move it to my name.

Everything else will stay the same, however I will be redirecting all of my MixedMarketArts.com posts to CollinLaHay.com in the near future.

No they wouldnt… all of the pages will be redirected…. so there will be a delay of some sorts…. but after 3 months, everything should be directed properly, and all will be back to normal for Collin…

Hi Colin,

I watched you in TAC. In fact, I hate to say this, but amazingly what caught my eye was your domain name. To lay it on even thicker… I saw the domain name zip by me in the credits at the end of a TAC show.

I have actually marveled at how cool your domain name is. I don’t know the history of the site at all and I trust what you know, but wow… I can’t imagine re-branding to a personal name. If I had the ability to do it over again, I would have never used my personal name for what it is.

Either way, thanks for the notice, I have been reading your blog for about a month now.

If everything redirects properly, no you shouldn’t.

Are you going to have the same layout? I really like the current setup

Yes, the only thing that would change is the logo.

Colin, I actually thought your domain name was CLEVER….it made me think you were possibly a Tae Kwon Do or Martial Arts instructor, and much older than your actual age. The “MixedMarketArts” name is a good one— do not underestimate the intelligence of your readers….for every moron who mistook it for “Martial Arts”, there are TEN of us who don’t make the same error!

You just contradicted yourself. You thought I was a Martial Arts instructor but at the same time didn’t mistake it for Martial Arts?

At the end of the day, my blog has nothing to do with martial arts and thats where the problem lies.

I have to agree with the rest of the guys and say that I also thought your domain name was quite clever and it stuck in my head. In fact if it was not for your domain name I would not be here. Your second name is quite an unusual one as well so people will have trouble remembering it.

Quite possibly at first, but in the long run of things it is insanely beneficial to have your name branded into people’s heads.

If I was you, I’d sell this one (would fetch a decent amount of money judging by past blog sales) and start afresh on CollinLahay.com :)

Just a thought.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don’t plan on every selling my blog.

Probably the idea to move on CollinLaHay.com is a good one. Will see there

I am sure the move will better help brand your overall business, so this is a good idea indeed.

I always kind of liked the domain name, too - no confusion here. I hope you own ColinLaHay, too, though. It’s one of those names that’s easy to misspell.

Good decision.. I personally got the idea of Mixed Market Arts , but I guess it wasn’t clear to everyone… good luck :)
