Here is a little freebie website marketing technique that I thought I would post. If you promote your website properly on a forum, and I don’t mean just by your signature, you can get a lot of quality targeted traffic for free. Here is a case study that I did recently:

Good news for all of you who abuse Stumbleupon (Updated post) for lots of traffic. The company has just announced that they are going to be redoing a few things on how the profiles are setup, and that they have eliminated the 200 friend limit.
For those of you who don’t know, the more friends that subscribe to your stumbles, the more traffic that you can send to an article. People with tons of followers are considered “authority stumblers” and send far more traffic than a new user can when they each stumble an article.
Guest posting on popular blogs is a great way to get new readers, sales, and subscribers. The best part is that guest posting can get you the same amount of publicity as a paid review, but this website marketing strategy doesn’t cost you a dime. With a little bit of time spent planning and writing a guest post, you can introduce yourself to hundreds of niche-related readers, as well as build a backlink that will help you rank better in the search engines.

Every day I see a ton of blog posts and articles about complex techniques on what people think are great website marketing strategies. I see dozens of people selling (as well as dozens of people buying) useless ebooks about techniques that do not work, or even worse are the ebooks or people telling others about techniques that may have worked last year, but can actually be bad for your websites now.
