New year = a new direction?

Posted in General> Off-Topic> Reviews

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or get your blog updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

I have a lot of big blogging plans for the 2008 year.  I am currently in the process of a few upgrades as well as having a new blog theme being designed to allow for easier reading and for better search engine optimization.

Today I was deciding what my end-game blogging goals were.  My original thought was to have a focus on increasing website traffic for webmasters, but I am thinking about moving more and more towards just blogging.  I wanted to know my readers opinions by finding out exactly who all of my readers are.

David Airey Hacked

Posted in Blogging> Off-Topic

While reading around a few blogs, I came across a blogger/designer from the United Kingdom. His name is David Airey and he blog(ed) over at DavidAirey.com. His Gmail account was hacked and the hacker took siege over the ownership of his domain and is asking for $250 to get his name back.

David Airey doesn’t want to pay the criminal, so he moved his entire blog over to a backup domain (DavidAirey.co.uk), but has lost all of his search engine results in the process.

Happy Holidays

Posted in General> Off-Topic

I just wanted to wish all of my readers a happy [insert a holiday that you celebrate here]. It does not matter whether you are celebrating Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, or something I have never even heard of, I hope you have a good time! If you blog every day like myself, you might want to take a day off, as now would be the perfect time to do it. Go have a blast! The internet, your blogs, your websites, and even your endless amounts of emails will still be here when you get back!

The idea behind the name

Recently a lot of people have been confused and asking why I used Mixed Market Arts as the name of my blog. I wanted to write this post to explain my reasoning just encase you have no idea what it means. The name is a word play off of the words “Mixed Martial Arts” which is a very popular combat sport in which a wide variety of fighting techniques are used. For example, it is very common to see a kick boxer fighting in an arena against a master of karate or jujitsu. Many different forms of martial arts are used such as grappling and striking.

Looking for a press release writer

Ever since I have started developing and marketing websites on the internet, I have come to meet with a lot of different people who all perfect one main skill and we help each other out like a team.  I have one friend who does the designs for all of my websites, I have one friend who does the PHP/AJAX/MYSQL for my websites, I have one guy who codes my themes into Wordpress format, I have one guy who does professional logos (I didn’t get a logo done for this blog, I wanted it simple), I do the internet marketing + SEO, and I have a few other friends for different things.

Blog Critiques Part Two

Update: I have added two columns.

Update 2: Moved Entrecard to the bottom right.

Update 3: Changed the homepage to only show the 4 most recent posts. (It use to be 6). This will keep the blog shorter and allow for the columns to look better.

Thanks for all of the comments on my blog critique post. Rather than selecting a winner for a review, I am going to give everyone some link love… after a brief synopsis of some changes.
