At the end of January, I made a post about how you could use Flickr to build massive amounts of insanely powerful links. Well, Flickr later added the nofollow tag to all external links, making them useless for raising your rank in the search engines.
End of story… or is it?
Today I discovered that the nofollow links are only added to comments on public photos. The “Groups” section is still all search engine friendly links. You can find related places to add your comments in the group section, or you can create your own group.
So there are only 10 days left in my MarketLeverage Contest, and to be completely honest, it was a flop for the goals I had in mind. When I announced a post about NeverblueAds when I was first getting my feet wet in affiliate marketing, I had over 20 affiliates the very next day, and one of whom was making over $3000/month. I didn’t even provide any prizes for that one.
The MarketLeverage contest hasn’t done as well. I have only referred 7 new affiliates to MarketLeverage, and one of those didn’t get approved. I have 6 active affiliates, and only two have earned any money and are elligible to win the prizes.
Here is a quick video I recorded recently as an entry to John Chow’s Blog World Expo Giveaway. As I said earlier, I am going to BlogWorldExpo 2008 in Vegas on September 20-21, and I would be stupid to pass up a 5 minute chance at saving myself a $300+ ticket. Hey, it beats the odds I will have in Vegas!
For those of you who own the Super Nintendo Console, you are not going crazy, that IS infact the Donkey Kong Bramble Scramble theme! Mhwahhahaha.
Here are some great posts that I have recently read that are excellent website marketing strategies aimed at helping you make more money online. I like to showcase posts that are worth the time it takes to read them every week, so if you have an article, technique, or post that you would like showcased on the next weekly roundup, feel free to contact me (shameless self promotion allowed, just know that not every request will get approved).
The following is Melvin Dichoso’s guest opinion of MarketLeverage, an up and coming affiliate company. Melvin wrote his review of MarketLeverage as an entry to my MarketLeverage Contest. There are three ways to enter the contest, and writing a review was one of them. If you are interested in joining, there are two $179 Flip Mino video cameras, $100 in giftcards, and 10 2GB USB pens up for grabs. (Read more about the contest here) With that put aside, here is Melvin’s opinions of MarketLeverage.
Naymz is a free website that allows you to register a profile centered around your name and reputation. They say they allow you to “promote your good name online.”
In my opinion, the site is like LinkedIn.com, but not even close to being as good. The reason I am mentioning it in a post however is because you can link to your website or blog to increase your website traffic from the search engines.
For the speed readers:
Visit Naymz.com, sign up, create a free profile, and add your blog under the “links” category.
Good news for all of you who abuse Stumbleupon (Updated post) for lots of traffic. The company has just announced that they are going to be redoing a few things on how the profiles are setup, and that they have eliminated the 200 friend limit.
For those of you who don’t know, the more friends that subscribe to your stumbles, the more traffic that you can send to an article. People with tons of followers are considered “authority stumblers” and send far more traffic than a new user can when they each stumble an article.
I will be going to Vegas for BlogWorldExpo 2008 this September 20-21. The event was massive last year and I hope this years will be even better. If you can afford the airfare, hotel, and cost of the event, I highly recommend you come and visit me there.
For those of you thinking about it, you can get the 25% off early bird special by signing up before the 22nd, and if you do a bit of research, you may even find a nice coupon to make it even cheaper.
Will I be seeing any of you at BlogWorldExpo 2008?
